Social-Ecological Transformation

Focus Theme

The ecological transformation of society is currently underway. Its societal implications represent a central social issue of the 21st century. However, how will this transformation unfold, and how can the conflicts of transformation be managed? An ecological transformation of society, the world of work, and ways of living can only succeed if it is democratic and socially just, ensuring equal living conditions in the regions most affected by these changes, with a focus on the common good. This is where expertise in social science becomes essential. SOFI’s research addresses these future challenges, tackling socio-ecological issues both empirically and conceptually across all three research areas.
